FAQ
Birdie Buddies is an app that pairs junior golfers with local golf instructors. Lessons are in small group format with groups of 2 – 4 golfers. Lessons can be booked for private groups or your kids can play with other students of the same age and ability.
Instructors don’t always submit their availability as far in advance as parents want to book them, so please let us know any lesson times that you’d like to see!
Birdie Buddies was founded in the Chicagoland area, and now includes the Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Columbus, and Cincinnati metropolitan areas. O, and we are currently expanding to 40 new cities nationwide by Spring of 2021!
We offer lessons on driving ranges, courses, and hybrid lessons that include both formats. At the driving range students will work on fundamental skills and use our metrics trackers to monitor progress. On the course students will put those skills to the ultimate test as they work on bringing it all together to manage the course at hand and lower their scores.
Lessons start around $20 for an hour and you can purchase longer lessons for even cheaper hourly rates. Also, you receive discounts to future lessons if you are the first or second to book a slot! Like us on Facebook and follow us on Instagram (@birdiebuddiesnation) for discounts and special offers!
We recruit instructors that are passionate about the game of golf and are known in their area for working well with children. Instructors vary from established PGA Professionals to highly experienced amateur golfers with teaching experience.
We hold the safety of all students and instructors as a top priority. All instructors are either PGA (or USGTF) professionals or required to complete a three-part background check (Identification Check, Basic Background Check, Sex Offender Check) before inclusion.
First download the app on iOS or android. Sign up with Facebook or a valid email address, link up with your network within the app or find the lesson that is best for you!
You can view public lessons in your area from the home screen and jump in with any that you would like! Location as well as age ranges and skill levels of the participants are provided so you can pick the lesson that works best for your child.
Create a group of friends (four golfers) and add alternates just in case someone can’t make it. Schedule lessons for your group and the app will send the invites automatically. Remember you are not committing your friends to anything, they can pick and choose the lessons that work for them and then the app will send invites to the alternates to see if others would like to join.
Birdie Buddies Metrics are specific skills that students can track during lessons or with friends and family on their own. These skills are fundamental to improving at the game and setting the player up for a lifelong love. Not only can students track their own progress, but they can compete with friends for fun and motivation!
At Birdie Buddies we categorize ability by three flights. Students in the A flight are strong golfers for their age while students in the C flight tend to be beginners. This is important to keep in mind when selecting groups to make sure your child feels comfortable and included in the activities planned by the instructor.
Birdie Buddies instructors have safety as their number one priority at all times. They are used to watching forecasts before and during rounds to make sure there are no threats of lightning or heavy rain in the area. If a session is rained out you can use the credit towards a make up at a later date. If more than half of the session is completed before the postponement it is considered a full round, however instructors are instructed to favor caution from the beginning to avoid any grey areas.
Unfortunately we have to charge full price. Lessons lock in with 3-4 golfers or 48 hours prior to the start of the lesson. This is one layer of protection for our instructors as well as the other families in the lesson, so that they can plan their days in advance.
Absolutely! While our primary focus is creating a great structure for kids to learn, the benefits are also applicable to adults, who will be able to schedule groups of ages 18+. The only difference is that adults may be required to pay for their own green fees if the lesson is on a course.
